ARPC releases quarterly statisticsÂ
10 July 2025
ARPC has released its quarterly cyclone pool statistics for the March 2025 quarter. The report draws on data generated by the cyclone pool, which operates Australia wide, but targets support to cyclone-prone areas.
Key findings (as at 31 March 2025) include:
- the cyclone pool has received 78,372 claims since inception with a total net incurred value of $657 million. The majority of claims (88%) received by the cyclone pool relate to ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred.
- over 3.2 million buildings are covered against financial loss from cyclones.
- annual cyclone pool premiums are approximately $557 million for Home, $55 million for Strata and $27 million for Small to Medium Enterprise (SME) properties.
- annual discounts to Home properties for property level mitigation activities are $7.3 million.
Background on the cyclone pool
The cyclone pool was established in July 2022 and is intended to help make insurance more affordable and more available in areas with medium to high cyclone risk for eligible policies across Home, Strata, and Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
