Tropical Cyclone Alfred update
24 February 2025
You may have seen that the Bureau of Meteorology (Bureau) named Tropical Cyclone (TC) Alfred, that formed in the Coral Sea, on 23 February 2025. It is the sixth cyclone to be named for the 2024/25 cyclone season in the Australian region.
TC Alfred developed well offshore of the North Queensland coast and at this stage it is moving in a south, southeasterly direction. At this stage there are no direct impacts to Australian mainland or island communities. As such, ARPC has not received a notification from the Bureau, and therefore will not be declaring TC Alfred as a Cyclone Event under the Terrorism and Cyclone Insurance Act 2003.
For the latest information, you can refer to the Bureau’s Tropical Cyclone 7 Day Forecast (bom.gov.au).
