Reappointments to ARPC Board

The Minister for Financial Services and Superannuation, Bill Shorten MP has reappointed Mr Joseph Gersh AM as Chair and Ms Jan Bowe, Mr Tom Karp and Ms Marian Micalizzi as part-time Members of the Board.

Mr Gersh has been reappointed for a six month period from 1 July 2012 to 31 December 2012. Ms Jan Bowe, Mr Tom Karp and Ms Marian Micalizzi have been appointed for three year terms starting on 1 July 2012.

Mr Gersh has extensive experience in law and commerce and is the Executive Chairman of Gersh Investment Partners Limited. He currently has a range of directorships, including the Payments System Board of the Reserve Bank of Australia.

Ms Bowe has held senior positions in the financial services sector in both insurance and banking. Ms Bowe has a strong background in general management and has held a number of senior roles in Suncorp Metway, the Commonwealth Bank and Rio Tinto.

Mr Karp is an actuary and, in June 2008, retired as the Executive General Manager, Supervisory Support, at the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority. Mr Karp is a member of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia’s Professional Standards Committee and represents the Institute at the International Actuarial Association.

Ms Micalizzi is a chartered accountant with over 20 years experience, a company director and a consultant in both the public and private sector. She sits on a number of boards, including the Independent Investment Committee of Queensland Development Fund and SunSuper Audit Committee.

Mr Geoffrey Vogt’s term expired on 28 February 2012 and ARPC would like to acknowledge Mr Vogt’s contribution to ARPC.
