An incident has occurred at:

  • LINDT Café, Martin Place, Sydney on Monday 15 December 2014.

We are saddened by the incident at the Lindt Café and our thoughts are with the families who have lost loved ones, the survivors, and everyone who has been impacted by this tragic event.

The incident is currently being investigated by the relevant authorities.

Please note that the provisions of the Terrorism Insurance Act 2003 in respect of eligible terrorism losses are not effective until the Minister announces the incident as a declared terrorist incident. Any such announcement may specify a reduction percentage.

For reference purposes, the definition of a terrorism act is set out in the Terrorism Insurance Act 2003 which refers to Section 100.1 of the Criminal Code Act 1995, which is set out in the following link: http://www.comlaw.gov.au/Details/C2012C00547

To enable ARPC to more accurately assess the likely loss from the incident, we request that clients inform us of claims notified and preliminary estimates of all losses likely to be incurred. We require this information to be updated on a regular basis, preferably weekly at least. Please submit loss estimates to ARPC by logging into RISe at https://rise.arpc.gov.au and inputting the data into the loss estimate page. Claims procedures are available  here.
