ARPC welcomes new Board appointments

The Hon Dr Daniel Mulino MP, Assistant Treasurer and Minister for Financial Services, has announced appointments and reappointments to the Australian Reinsurance Pool Corporation (ARPC) Board.
Ms Julie‑Anne Schafer has been reappointed as part‑time Chair and member until July 2030. Part‑time members Ms Eilis Hurley, Ms Fran Raymond and Mr Greg Nucifora have also been reappointed until July 2030, while Ms Evelyn Horton and Mr Kent Griffin have been reappointed until July 2028.
Mr Guy Thorburn has been reappointed as a part‑time observer until July 2028.
ARPC also welcomes new Board member, Mr Robert McLean, who has been appointed as a part‑time member until July 2028.
Mr McLean is General Manager, Business & Advisory Services and Innovation & Delivery, and Deputy Insurance Commissioner for the National Injury Insurance Agency Queensland and Motor Accident Insurance Commission Queensland. He brings more than 20 years’ experience in insurance and financial management.
ARPC Chair Julie‑Anne Schafer said the appointments reinforce the strength and depth of expertise across the Board.

Their combined experience across insurance, financial services, government and risk management will further strengthen the Board’s capability and support ARPC’s purpose in providing public reinsurance to improve the accessibility and affordability of insurance for the Australian community for terrorism and cyclone risks.
“I also thank outgoing Board member Rod Whithear for his dedicated service to ARPC. Rod has made a significant contribution to the Board, bringing deep public sector and insurance expertise, and we wish him well in his future roles.”
ARPC administers the terrorism reinsurance pool and the cyclone reinsurance pool under the Terrorism and Cyclone Insurance Act 2003. The Board is accountable for ARPC’s governance and strategic direction.
