Dr Chris Wallace, Chief Executive Officer of Australian Reinsurance Pool Corporation, (ARPC) has today announced the appointment of Michaela Flanagan to the new role of General Manager, Business Performance and Strategy.

Ms Flanagan joins ARPC from QBE where she was Head of Strategy and Proposition Development within the Specialty and Corporate Solutions global business. In that role, Ms Flanagan was responsible for developing strategy and business plans, project business cases, communication strategies to support strategic plans and industry research.

“Ms Flanagan brings to ARPC deep experience in insurance coupled with extensive experience in developing and implementing corporate strategy, business plans and projects,” says Dr Chris Wallace, ARPC Chief Executive. “She has also worked with a wide variety of insurance stakeholders.”

Ms Flanagan has 20 years’ experience in the general insurance sector. She commenced her career with Zurich as an insurance underwriter, including property and liability underwriting. She then moved into the information technology area. She joined QBE in 2004 in IT, but worked from 2007 onwards in strategy roles including Manager, Strategy and Planning and Head of Strategy.

Ms Flanagan holds a Bachelor of Business with majors in Management and Information Technology from the University of Technology Sydney.

“We are excited to have an individual of Ms Flanagan’s calibre and skillset join ARPC and we look forward to working with her,” Dr Wallace says.

Ms Flanagan commences in her new role at ARPC on 5 December 2016.
