Tropical Cyclone Taliah update
3 February 2025
You may have seen that the Bureau of Meteorology (Bureau) named Tropical Cyclone (TC) Taliah, that formed in the Indian ocean on 2 February 2025. It is the third cyclone to be named for the 2024/25 cyclone season in the Australian region.
TC Taliah developed north of the Pilbara on Sunday and is moving further west southwest. It will remain far offshore of the WA coast and is unlikely to directly impact the Australian mainland or island communities. As such, ARPC has not received a notification from the Bureau, and therefore will not be declaring TC Taliah as a Cyclone Event under the Terrorism and Cyclone Insurance Act 2003.
For the latest information, you can refer to the Bureau’s Tropical Cyclone 7 Day Forecast (bom.gov.au).
