ARPC welcomes statutory review of the Terrorism and Cyclone Insurance Act

1 October 2025

Australian Reinsurance Pool Corporation (ARPC) welcomes the Commonwealth Treasury’s announcement of the scheduled statutory review of the Terrorism and Cyclone Insurance Act 2003 (TCI Act).

The review, which is a requirement under legislation, will assess the ongoing need for the terrorism and cyclone reinsurance pools and ensure they continue to meet the evolving needs of Australia’s risk landscape.

ARPC Chief Executive Dr Christopher Wallace said: “This review is an important step in ensuring the reinsurance pools continue to meet the needs of insurers, businesses, and the broader community. We encourage all interested stakeholders to participate in the review process and share their views with Treasury.”

The review will consider the operation of the terrorism and cyclone pools, governance arrangements, and any potential improvements to the reinsurance pools. Stakeholder input will help inform Treasury’s recommendations to the Government.

Further details, including the terms of reference and how to make a submission, are available on the Treasury website.
