ARPC announces new Chief Executive Officer

Mr Joseph Gersh, Chairman of the Australian Reinsurance Pool Corporation (ARPC) today announced the appointment of Mr David Matcham to the role of Chief Executive Officer of the organisation. Mr Matcham will take office on 5 October 2010.

Mr Matcham replaces Mr Neil Weeks who retired on 8 July 2010 and who had been with ARPC since it was established in 2003.

Mr Matcham has over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry. He began his employment at Lumley in 1977 and worked in various positions across all business lines. He was appointed Managing Director in 1999 and Chief Executive Officer in 2003. He held that position until his retirement in 2009.

Mr Matcham is currently the Chairman of the CREATE foundation, the peak body which advocates for children in care and is a Director of Hollard Insurance. He has also previously held a position on the Board of the Insurance Council of Australia.

Commenting on Mr Matcham’s appointment, Mr Gersh said: ‘I would like to welcome Mr Matcham to ARPC and look forward to working with him to ensure the continued success of the organisation’.
