ARPC’s Cyber Terrorism Research and Insurance Seminar goes online

Australian Reinsurance Pool Corporation has announced that its Cyber Terrorism Research and Insurance Seminar has been brought forward to Thursday, 3 September starting at 4pm AEST, with the format changed to a Webinar.

ARPC’s Cyber Terrorism Research and Insurance Webinar will showcase the findings of ARPC’s ground-breaking cyber terrorism research project, titled: ‘Insurance Risk Assessment of Cyber Terrorism in Australia’.

“A live Webinar format will make the event accessible to a much larger group of our stakeholders both in Australia and overseas, who will be able to watch, listen and participate in the event,” says Dr Christopher Wallace, ARPC CEO. A recording of the event will also be made available to Webinar attendees.

“This free-of-charge event also provides an opportunity for ARPC to thank our valued stakeholders who participated in workshops and interviews to help complete the research,” Dr Wallace said.

Speakers from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the University of Cambridge’s Centre for Risk Studies at the Judge Business School (Cambridge) will outline key findings and explain the implications for the insurance industry and government. A discussion and Q&A will follow, in which attendees can participate.

Webinar Chair

Professor Paula Jarzabkowski, Professor of Strategic Management at University of Queensland Business School and Cass Business School, University of London, will act as Webinar Chair. Professor Jarzabkowski is a high-profile insurance academic, author and International Forum of Terrorism Risk (Re) Insurance Pools (IFTRIP) presenter.

Speakers

Mr Leigh Wolfrom, Policy Analyst (insurance), OECD Directorate of Financial Enterprise Affairs, led the OECD component of the research, including insurance coverage and global pool coverage and will present on these aspects of the research.

Mr Simon Ruffle, Director of Research & Innovation, Centre for Risk Studies at Cambridge, led the Cambridge component of the research and will present Cambridge’s component of the research findings on cyber terrorism threats, plausible cyber terrorism scenarios and a range of insured and economic losses.

Annual Terrorism Risk and Insurance Seminar

ARPC will still host its annual Terrorism Risk and Insurance Seminar at NSW Parliament on Thursday, 12 November. This annual Seminar allows delegates to hear valuable insights on current and emerging terrorism threats and mitigation measures from experts in terrorism and insurance. However, as explained above, the launch of the ARPC cyber terrorism research project has been brought forward to ARPC’s 3 September Webinar.
